to make 6 roses
Ingredients
2 red apples–
½ juice of a lemon
A bowl of water
3 Tbsp Apricot jam
2 Tbsp of water
Cinnamon powder
Puff pastry
Method
Cut the apples in half - Core and slice the red apples thinly – **now do not cut too thinly and also if it breaks do not use those pieces of apples. Take a microwavable bowl of water and add half the juice of a lemon, drop in the apples and microwave for 3 minutes. Then drain out all the water
In a small bowl add 3 tbsp. apricot jam and 2 tbsp. water and microwave for 1 minute and stir. (**lessen the water as it gets too watery if not – it should be sticky
Unwrap one sheet of thawed puff pastry (rectangle is better) and stretch it out by rolling with flour. Then cut 6 strips - ** (the pastry should be quite thin as it puffs up when baking )then rub apricot jam with a butter/oil brush on the strip and place the apples on top of one edge with the red side of the skin out of the edge.
Sprinkle cinnamon powder and then fold the dough strip in half – so that the apples are peeping out from the top. Then start rolling from one end to form the rose, stick the edges together.
Take a silicon cupcake tray and place the rose into each hole and Bake at 375 F for 40-45 minuets. Sprinkle with icing sugar.
**NB – these were what I found out whilst rolling it. If the pastry is still not done put back for 10 minuets.
