Take a large fry pan and keep on medium heat and heat the oil then add the onions and sauté for 5 minutes or till they start to soften.

Onions with oil

Frying on medium heat

Keep stirring

Then add salt and reduce the heat to medium low and cook for 1 hour and around 20 minutes stirring ever few minutes till the onions are very soft and golden brown and caramelized.

Still Stirring

Stirring on high heat

Slightly caramelized

This all depends on the size of your onions and heat applied. If the onions start to stick to the bottom of the pan reduce the heat to low. If they are still not turning golden turn up the heat to get them caramelized. Keeping stirring to prevent burning. If there are some places where the onions is stuck to the pan add a splash of water and keep stirring.

NB: This will take some time to make - so be sure you are have free time to do so. It is fully worth the wait!!

This is could be used in a dip, and in Sandwich or burger with eggs in Pasta and on Pizza.

You could add a little bit of chili powder if you want to make it a bit spicy!
