Homemade Vanilla Syrup

Ingredients

½ cup water

½ cup granulated sugar

½ Tbsp vanilla bean paste

 




Method

Take a small or medium saucepan, whisk together water and sugar over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved. The liquid should be clear. Remove from heat.

 Then stir in the vanilla bean paste to ensure it retains the flavour!

 Allow to cool or use immediately. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and use in your favourite beverages or recipes as desired.

This is just like a regular simple syrup, granulated sugar and water dissolve together.

Use a 1:1 ratio for a smooth, just-right syrup.

 

Use it in recipes where the vanilla flavour will stand out (general no-cook recipes like the mascarpone fruit dip)

Ways to Use Vanilla Syrup

beverages like coffee, tea, and cocktails are the most common.

The Most Incredible Vanilla Latte. This could be also added to tea and make a tea latte

 

Add it to warm or cool milk for a kid-friendly drink. This syrup could be tossed with with mixed berries or can be drizzled on yogurt, or can be added to smoothies. The Vanilla Syrup could be brushed on a freshly baked cake.

 

NB: This recipe makes approximately 3/4 cups of syrup.

If you need to use Vanilla Bean pods slice it in half lengthwise and add it to the simple syrup from the beginning. Allow it to simmer, then set it aside to infuse and scrape out the vanilla seeds, once it’s cool enough to handle, stir them into the syrup.
