HOW TO CAKES

Get same size to layer cakes


Cake Marked for slicing, measure from top with a ruler and put in a toothpick at the same height. Now run a bread knife staring from one tooth pick,both layers will be the same height



HOW TO CRUMB COAT A CAKE


Take a cooled cake, rub a thick layer of buttercream icing and see that all the cake crumbs are locked in. To cover the cake then smoothen out the icing with a spatula. Once this is smoothed out and no crumbs are visible you could cover with a sheet of fondant, depending on your decoration.





How to know how much of batter you need for each different cake tin size


Fill your original cake tin say you have been using a 8 inch round tin for a particular recipe.

Say a chocolate cake, pour water into this pan, the same height you would do your cake batter and pour this into a 12inch cake pan. See how much water that pan holds. pour from the 8 inch tin into the 12 inch tin – do not fill up to the top as this will rise. So multiply your cake by the number of times you need to fill the water to the different size tin.
