Lasagne

Home made recipe on top and shop bought recipe at bottom


Ingredients

sheets of lasagne

150 g Grated Mozzarella cheese

Pasta sauce

White sauce


for the Tomato pasta sauce or you can use ready made pasta sauce - recipe 2


Ingredients

1 tbsp olive oil

2 onions, chopped

2 garlic cloves, crush

1 tbsp tomato purée

2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes

1 tsp dried Oregano/Basil


Method

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan, add the onions and cook on a low heat until soft. Add the garlic and tomato purée. Cook for a few minutes then add the chopped tomatoes and oregano/basil. Season and simmer for 20 mins, then allow to cool.


NB: the sauce can be stored in sterilised jars in the fridge for up to 1 month or kept in freeze for up to 2 months.


for the white sauce or you can use ready made white sauce - recipe 2

Milk - 250 ml

butter - a little

1 onion - finely chopped

1 Tbsp. corn flour dissolved in a little cold milk

cheese

mince meat/chicken

onion cut finely

carrots chopped finely - if desired

a little oil

Method

Take a fry pan put a little oil and sauté finely chopped onion, then add finely chopped carrots and add in the minced beef or chicken. Keep stirring till cooked through. You could add a little Wooster-shire sauce if you wish. Then add the milk and corn flour till it turns slightly thick.


Remove the number of sheets you would like to use for the dish. Place a layer of lasagne sheets at the bottom, then top up with pasta sauce. you could keep layering like this or you could add a layer of white sauce too on top. add the pasta sauce and sheets of lasagne alternatively till you reach the top of the dish. Cover with white sauce and grated mozzarella cheese and bake at 200°F for 40 minutes.

Ingredients

a packet of Cooked Lasagne sheets

1 bottle of Bolognaise Pasta Sauce

1 packet of Béchamel Sauce

1 packet of grated Mozzarella cheese

if you like fresh Spinach


Method

If you are using Spinach layer the base with that and then put a sheet of Lasagne and cover with pasta sauce and Béchmal sauce and keep topping up layers of lasagne and sauce. cover the top with white sauce and sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake in a pre heated oven at 200°F for 40 minutes. if you don't want the top to get too burnt you could cover with a piece of aluminium or parchment foil whist baking and remove half way.
