Murukku - a savoury crunchy snack



Ingredients

500g Gram Flour

salt to taste

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp cumin seed

water to mix


oil for deep frying

Murukku or Cookie press


Method

Add all the dry ingredients into a bowl and slowly mix in the water to form a soft dough.

Fill into a cookie or murukku press with the base of your choice. circle or ridged


Put oil in a deep fryer or pan and heat the oil till boiling, press into the boiling oil a little dough at a time, take out when golden and strain. Taste the first batch to see if there are enough spices, if not add more.


When fully cooled store in Jars. Can be kept for a long time.
